Patients in need of dental crowns traditionally had to visit our office at least two times. During the initial appointment, we’d prepare the tooth, capture impressions, and place a temporary restoration. A dental lab would use the bite impressions to craft a customized crown. Once we received this final product, patients had to return to our practice in Powdersville, Greenwood, or Simpsonville to exchange the temporary crown for the custom restoration. The skilled dentists at Tylan Creek Family Dentistry are now able to complete the entire dental restoration process in just one visit thanks to the innovative CEREC restoration system. If you’d like to find out more about CEREC or make an appointment at one of our three offices, please contact our friendly team today.
We complete the CEREC dental restoration procedure just like traditional crowns, bridges, inlays, or onlays, but instead of requiring two visits to our office, the entire process is completed in just one appointment. We’ll start by numbing the area to be treated and preparing the tooth or teeth as necessary to accommodate the dental restoration. Next, we’ll use the state-of-the-art CEREC digital bite impression device to capture a representation of the dips and crevices in the surfaces of teeth. These impressions are immediately available via our chairside computer monitors where we’ll design a custom dental restoration. These personalized designs are sent to the in-office milling unit where a block of high-quality dental ceramic is shaped to repair teeth. In the meantime, patients are welcome to relax and enjoy their favorite tv show, listen to music, or read a book. Once the custom restoration is completed, we’ll place it on the very same day. No need for placing and removing a temporary crown that may cause unintentional damage. The custom-crafted dental restoration is designed, crafted, and placed all in just one day.
